2008 - Weatherly is developing as a two-year old should - she continues to work on her manners, is getting used to wearing a bit and has learned to "smile" and "shake hands." We plan on her going to Houghton College for training in the fall of 2009.
She is still a "pocket pony" and is very, very curious - she likes to see what is going on and to see how she can help.
She made her show ring debut on May 15th in Syracuse, NY - she was curious to a fault and would not park but it was still fun to have a big horse in the ring again.
In June we showed at the NYSMHC Amateur Show and came home with a reserve champion placing.
2009 - With the bad economy, I made the choice to start Weatherly on my own in April. She handled me climbing aboard like a seasoned veteran... she just cannot handle Neffie coming under her nose and tempting her to run and gallop with me on board so we have ventured to riding outside. I have to learn to ride out the "squeal."
A friend has suggested doing competitive trail riding with her and at my age, this sounds like fun versus cramming myself into a set of tall boots and breeches and trying to look good.
I ride Weatherly bitless...I find she goes better.
