I made the mistake of reading a miniature horse ad and fell in love with a filly...a flaxen chestnut filly. After further investigation, I found the filly's dam has Mercy's sire as her grandsire...
I sold my horse trailer two weeks ago and once again could not find anyone to ship the filly... by the way, this sounds just like Mercy's story... but this filly was a love... she came right up to me and started grooming me.
So, I put the seats up, tarped the floor, and loaded the mini filly into the truck - she started to leap in on her own without any fuss. Despite just being weaned, she was great and was patient the whole way home... I was in shock as even Mercy was not this good. When I got home, she leaped into my arms.
As Mercy is turning 16 in 2010... and Freedom has no interest in being a service mini... "Saoirse" arrived to be tutored by Mercy in the skills of being a service horse.
Her name is pronounced "SIRsha" - Gaelic for Liberty... and if you visit my Over the Bridge page, the two have similar coloring (other than Libby's blaze).
Thank you to Sandy Larkin Scoville of Shanadar Arabians and Miniatures for allowing me to acquire this beautiful filly who also shares the same sire as Sandy's famous mare "Lola".
