aka Silversong Freedom Rings AMHA and AMHR registered, PtHA pending
Freedom arrived May 24, 2001 at 12:35 AM. We knew she was to be a filly, thanks to an accurate ultrasound on October 10, 2000, where she was soaking up the "camera view". As we had not had any fillies since 1997, we were looking forward to her arrival. Many nights were spent feeling her animated kicks through her dam's belly and wondering what she might look like.
However, despite her dam testing 5 squares pink on our Predict-A-Foal milk testing kit at 5:30PM on May 23rd, Freedom did not make an initial appearance until 12:30 AM on the 24th, when she was coming out with her left leg back, right elbow locked and nose and right hoof protruding and she got stuck.
Benn ran to call the veterinarian while I was trying to reposition her. Her dam Hope waited to push until I had moved the left foreleg into place and had twisted Freedom 20 degrees counterclockwise and she popped out like a cork!
Freedom continued to grow in size and in our hearts and we opted to keep her and sell her dam. She has earned an ESMHA Division A Reserve Championship in Owned-Bred-And-Shown in 2003 and was the ESMHA Division A Champion in Owned-Bred-And-Shown in 2004. She continues to work on Hunter, Jumper and Halter Obstacle training and ground driving. She will be a late bloomer as she questions everything we ask of her but she is definitely worth the wait.
Her color has changed after her initial foal clip to a dark mahogany bay with highlights and she resembles her grandsire, Hobby Horse's Little Painter. As we like to test our horses with fun activities, Freedom has become accomplished in "playing" a "Little Tykes" baby piano in order to garner a treat. She is learning to smile, shake hands and answer questions.
